WHY I DO NOT TRUST ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE!

I asked two different AI ASSISTED search engines the following question:

"What is the longest-lasting artificial object in space?"

AI number one answered: Voyager 1

Voyager 1, launched by NASA on September 5, 1977, holds the title of the longest-lasting artificial object in space. As part of the Voyager program, its primary mission was to explore the outer planets—Jupiter and Saturn—and their moons. After successfully completing its primary mission, Voyager 1 continued its journey into interstellar space, providing invaluable data about the heliosphere, the boundary where solar wind meets interstellar medium.

As of October 2023, Voyager 1 is over 14 billion miles from Earth, making it the farthest human-made object in space. It transmits data back to Earth, albeit at a drastically reduced rate due to the vast distance. The spacecraft is equipped with instruments that continue to send back information about cosmic rays, magnetic fields, and plasma waves, enhancing our understanding of the universe.

AI number two answered: Vanguard 1

"It is Vanguard 1

Launched by the United States on March 17, 1958, it was the world's first solar-powered satellite. Although its radio transmissions ceased in May 1964, it remains an inert piece of space history circling the globe in an elliptical orbit that ranges from roughly 660 km to 3,822 km above the Earth. Due to its high altitude, scientists estimate it will remain in orbit for hundreds of years."

Of course, AI number 2 is more likely correct because Vanguard 1 has been in space longer. However, there may be other man-made space objects that were launced ever before Vanguard 1 that remain in orbit.

I also asked a search engine DISABLING the AI option the same question:

"What is the longest-lasting artificial object in space?"

Non-AI answer:

Depending on whether you mean in Earth orbit or deep space, the answer is either Vanguard 1 or Voyager 1.

Both are derelict, but still orbiting.

Oldest Object in Earth Orbit:

Vanguard 1

Launched: March 17, 1958

Details: This grapefruit-sized US satellite is the oldest human-made object still orbiting Earth. Though it stopped communicating in 1964, it remains in Medium Earth Orbit and is expected to stay aloft for hundreds of years.

Oldest Object in Deep Space:

Voyager 1

Launched: September 5, 1977

Details: Launched by NASA, this space probe is the farthest human-made object from Earth and was the first to cross into interstellar space. It is continuing to travel indefinitely and is expected to sail through the galaxy for millions of years.

WHEN AI WAS DISABLED, THE SEARCH ENGINE GAVE A COMPREHENSIVE ANSWER TO THE QUESTION, TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION THAT THE QUESTION HAS MORE THAN ONE INTERPRETATION.

You can try this with other questions to see if this was just a fluke. However, I now am more skeptical of AI than I was before.
