Is it Satanic to Believe that God is Infinitely Loving and Merciful ?

Those of you who have read my other religious blogs know that I believe strongly that

  1.    God is infinitely loving and merciful
  2.    To be a good human being, all persons should follow the two greatest Commandments as presented  by Jesus in the NEW TESTAMENT OF THE GOSPEL OF MATTHEW
    1. L0VE THE LORD GOD WITH OUR WHOLE SOUL, MIND, AND BODY
    2. LOVE OUR NEIGHBOURS AS WE LOVE OURSELVES
  3. The Holy Spirit will give us the grace to use our talents to help our neighbours, for the Glory of God.
  4. Everyone should commit themselves to help others to recognize that God is infinitely loving and   merciful and to help others to commit their lives to fulfilling the two greatest commandments.
  5. We should all recognize that God made us in his image, instilling in us his goodness and beauty
  6. However, God gave us free will so anyone may reject everything that I believe to be true.

Again, if you have read my religious blogs, you know that I am aghast by the teachings of organize religion:

  1. They admonish everyone to love God, but preach that God is strict and will punish them with an eternity in Hell.
  2. They preach that the way to salvation is to not sin, simply, “Thou shalt not.”
  3. They vociferate that we are all sinners and not worthy of God’s love.
  4. They insist that sinners are an abomination to God
  5. They talk of love but stress that fear of God is the only way to Salvation

I have discussions with Christian Fundamentalist about my beliefs and the joy it brings me. I explain that through my daily life, I always do good to others. I do not worry about sin, because I was taught that sin is an action which one knows is evil but does it anyway. Thus, I always do good.

The response from Fundamentalist is always the same. They say that I am a sinner and unless I repent, I will burn in Hell. They insist that by ignoring the teachings of a Church, that I am insulting and disrespecting God. Some judge me as a sodomite and adulterer or some other kind of sinner. Fundamentalists feel they have the right to judge me as a Christian.

They quote some specific alarming passages from the Bible. However, when I quote passages that support my belief, they accuse me of picking and choosing what I am quoting. They label me as Satanic.

How can my religious belief of promoting love of God and our neighbour be Satanic?

I was so bothered by what fundamentalist believed, I prayed to the Holy Spirt about these troubled Christians. I asked him to help me understand why these Christians were rejecting God’s infinite love and mercy, and why they interpreted everything the three Persons of the Holy Trinity said in the Bible as being part of God’s threat of punishment. On the contrary, when I read everything in the Bible, I know it is God’s message of Love. I asked the Holy Spirit why these Christians reject His Grace.

This explanation came, I believe, from Him. First, the Holy Spirit reminded me of the two greatest commandments, revealed to human beings in the New Testament.

36 Master, which is the greatest commandment in the law?  37 Jesus said to him: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with thy whole mind.  38 This is the greatest and the first commandment.  39 And the second is like to this: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.  40 On these two commandments dependeth the whole law and the prophets.

MATTHEW 22:36 – 40

The Holy Spirit said to me that fundamentalists could not follow these, the greatest of God’s Commandments, because they reject that God’s Love and Mercy are infinite.

He said look at the first commandment:

Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with thy whole mind

They look upon God as a Father who will severely punish his children if they do not follow his every command. Fundamentalists read everything in the Bible as being a threat of Just Punishment, from a God who is infinitely strict. How can they love such a God when he threatens an eternity in hell for a life that is not even a milli-note in the symphony of eternity? And so, they fear God, and they are motivated by this fear to encourage others to fear him to achieve salvation, not to love Him. Thus, they cannot obey the first commandment.

Look at the second commandment:

Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Fundamentalists look upon themselves as sinners. They see all human beings as sinners (sodomites, adulterers, murderers) who offend God and deserve to be punished by God. However, they know that they are as well sinners. They are filled with self-hatred and self-loathing because they know that they are not worthy of the God they fear. Thus, they do not have the love to share with their neighbours, because they do not love themselves.

The Holy Spirit said that if one cannot follow the Two Greatest Commandments of God, then those persons are rejecting the fact that “on these two commandments dependeth the whole law and the prophets.”

My ideas frighten them because my Christian beliefs go against the teaching of their churches. Thus, they must label me Satanic.

Furthermore, when fundamentalist use all their energy to merely not commit sin, they ignore the Gospel of Matthew.

"Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house".

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven".

Matthew 5:15-16

All Christians should be using all this energy to do good and share love with their neighbours. They should do this with the Grace of the Holy Spirit and for the Glory of God. However, first, fundamentalists must replace their Fear of God with Love of God. Second, they must replace self-hatred and self-loathing with loving the Lord’s image within them. Then they can follow the two greatest commandments and spread God’s Love and Mercy, through the Grace of the Holy Spirit, throughout the world.

In a way, fundamentalists push me closer to God’s Love and Mercy. The more they try to make me Fear God, instead of Loving God, the more they judge me as a sodomite, adulterer, and murderer, the more I see that they just hate themselves and can only fear God. However, I accept the Grace of the Holy Spirit and accept that God loves his creations infinitely.  My Faith in God is invigorated by what fundamentalists say and how they feel that they have a right to judge as ONLY GOD DOES. I thank them for helping me enhance my acceptance of the Grace of the Holy Spirit. They encourage me to spread the News of God’s Love and Mercy even more. I will continue to pray for them. The Holy Spirit will continue to try to give them His Grace, but they have the free will to continue to reject it.
