THE HOLY SPIRIT IS OMNIPRESENT AND ALL-INSPIRING
I believe that the purpose of any Christian Church is to spread
the Word of God. They must help all human beings to allow the Loving and
Merciful God into their hearts, minds, and souls. The Church must preach that
the Holy Spirit is ever inspiring us to love God through the Two Holy Commandments
of the New Testament:
36 Master, which is the greatest
commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said to him: Thou shalt
love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with
thy whole mind. 38 This is the greatest and the
first commandment. 39 And the second is like to this:
Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments dependeth the
whole law and the prophets.
MATTHEW 22:36 – 40
The Churches must help all persons to be
open to welcoming the Holy Spirit to inspire them to do good works for their
neighbour in the name of God, to show love for their neighbours, for the glory
of God, and to love God openly for the world to see.
However, almost all Christian churches emphasize Fear of God and the
avoidance of sin as an easier way to achieve salvation (imperfect contrition, “fear
the loss of heaven and the pain of hell”). I believe that churches must preach
that to love God "not sinning" is not what the New Testament requires. Doing
good acts overrides just not sinning. Moreover, the churches should be
preaching that focusing on doing good deeds for our neighbours, will devoid our
lives of sinning and will manifest our Love of God (perfect contrition, “but
most of all because I offend thee my God, who is loving and deserving of all my
love.)."
WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT?
Churches preach a lot about God the Father, who created the heavens and Earth. They also proselytize about Jesus Christ, God who became man to show his eternal love for all human beings. However, the Holy Spirit is probably talked about the least of the three Persons of God. So, Who is the Holy Spirit, and what is His role in our salvation?
"The Holy Spirit, or Holy Ghost, is God, the Third Person of the
Holy Trinity, who eternally 'proceeds' from the Father (John 15:26). The Holy Spirit is co-equal with
the Father and the Son."

"The Holy Spirit enables Christian life
by dwelling in the individual believers and enabling them. The Holy Spirit also
acts as a comforter or Paraclete, one who intercedes, supports, or acts as an
advocate, particularly in times of trial.
"'The Holy Spirit illuminates the minds
of people, makes us yearn for God, and takes spiritual truth and makes it
understandable to us.' –Billy Graham.
"The Holy Spirit is a beautiful and
powerful part of who God is. We need Him in our life as a conduit to become who
God created us to be, and through His power we have aid in all situations.
Without Him, we are powerless."
The Holy Spirit is probably the Divine Person of God who is most involved in our lives. If we accept His Grace, He inspires us to live a virtuous and faithful life.
What is a virtuous and faithful life?
Almost all Christian Churches would lead us to believe that a
virtuous and faithful life is one without committing sin. It is the “Thou Shalt
Not” of the Old Testament. We avoid sin because we Fear God’s Punishment, and,
Oh Yes, “Love God or Else!!”
I believe that, of course, God knew that humankind would and has
intellectually advanced beyond being totally controlled by fear. It started when
Adam and Eve gained knowledge of the difference between Good and Evil.
Human beings are capable of high levels of reasoning and
understanding. God, I know, is pleased that this has happened, and, in fact, it
has always been his wish: for human beings to become more “in His Likeness.”
With the Life of Christ, Christians are becoming ready to achieve
salvation through a very personal relationship with the loving and merciful God.
He revealed himself to be loving and merciful through the Life of Jesus Christ.
Human beings now have the ability to bring God into their minds, hearts, and
souls, not because of fear of punishment, but through love of God and the human
beings whom He created in His own Likeness.
The Holy Spirit is the most important Divine
Person of God’s sincere desire to show us God’s love and mercy. The Holy Spirit
is stirring us to accept God’s love and to share God’s love with our
neighbours.
I truly believe that it is time for
Christian Churches to stop telling us that we are unworthy of God’s Love
because we are all sinners and that the way to salvation is merely to live a life
of not sinning.
I believe it is more complex than that.
The Holy Spirit encourages us to show God and our neighbour love (the Two Holy
Commandments of the New Testament) by always acting for the good of our neighbours
inspired by the Holy Spirit and thus, glorifying God and showing our
unconditional love of God to God and to every human being.
It is time that all Christians accept
that God is a Loving and Merciful Father and that we must share His Love with
all human beings.
