ABOUT COVID-19, SWEDEN ALWAYS FOLLOWED AND STILL FOLLOWS THE OPTIMAL STRATEGY WHILE THE REST OF THE WORLD CREATES HAVOC

 

 

I think the medical establishment and all of us have to recognize that medicine is an art as much as it is a science. There are always alternate approaches to dealing with with any illness -- it is the time honoured "seek a second opinion." In the current Covid situation, Sweden is an example of an optimal medical alternative. Their government did not impose harsh lockdowns and restrictions. Instead, they used an advisory approach to deal with Covid-19. Though much maligned by many medical authorities, Sweden has done better than most European countries who continually imposed harsh restrictions and lockdowns. In addition, Sweden did not suffer the collateral damage -- increased suicide and death by domestic violence; increased death of cancer and other fatally ill patients because they did not neglect these patients; the horrendous economic collapse; the mental health pandemic; the widespread loss of livelihood, homes, and dignity -- as did other countries who applied strict restrictions and lockdowns. 

 

I think the medical world must never again allow itself to fall into the pattern of "group think" that has characterized the last 24 months and killed so many non-Covid-19 victims.
